JDX Racing / Hertz Porsche Claims Sixth and Third in the First Two Rounds of Series Debut.

Loveland, CO – JDX Racing worked through the off-season to put together a strong Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama program, and the fruits of that labor became apparent this past weekend at the opening round in Sebring, Florida. The team arrived in Sebring with their talented new driver, Sloan Urry, and a brand new Porsche 991 GT3 Cup Car, ready to mount a challenge on the 2014 title.

Sloan joined JDX Racing on the heels of a second place championship finish in the 2013 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge season. After getting the deal inked during the IMSA WInter Test in early March, the team got Sloan behind the wheel for the first time at Sebring during the race-week promoter test day. JDX Racing managed to prepare the 991 GT3 Cup car in a very short time, allowing Sloan maximum seat time.

The race weekend included the traditional two race format. Sloan qualified the #20 JDX Racing / Hertz Porsche second for both 45 minute sprint races. Round one for the weekend started off well until tire temperatures and pressures caused the car to go away around lap seven. Sloan still managed to maintain a strong pace and finished a respectable sixth position.

Round two rolled off Friday morning and JDX Racing managed to work out the kinks from the previous rounds setup, and Sloan found speed early and often. The talented young driver wheeled the GT3 Porsche Cup Car around the historic 17 turn Sebring race course, turning consistent lap times and dealing with slower lapped traffic, all while keeping the car in the top three throughout, and delivering the team its first podium of the 2014 season.

Sloan Urry said, “Overall it was a great weekend – though we arrived at the track a little behind versus most of the other drivers in the championship. We were able to sort through early issues we discovered, giving me a great car and allowing me to put the Hertz Porsche 911 on the front row for both races. Unfortunately in the first race we made a miscalculation on the set up and we lost a few positions, but that's just part of the learning curve with a brand new car. In race two we were able to learn quite a few things, giving me much more consistent performance. Unfortunately I slipped from second to third late in the race, but the goal for the weekend was to grab points – and we achieved that goal. It's always important to leave Sebring with championship points, and we are currently sitting third, so I'm quite happy. I always strive to be on the top step of the podium – that's where I wanted to put the car for JDX and Hertz – but we are in good shape and we have plenty of time between Sebring and round two at Laguna Seca in early May to do some testing. I can't wait for Laguna!”

“Sloan did a fantastic job in his debut with JDX Racing. He qualified for both races on the front row and managed to keep the car out of trouble – which is much easier said than done with such a large field of entries at Sebring. It's a good start in competing for a Series Championship, as the key to claiming this Championship is balancing speed with consistency. A podium finish at Sebring gives us solid momentum to start our 2014 season – and our competitors know that Sloan will be a factor in this championship – just where we want to be”, said Harrison Brix, team Co-Owner.
