4 Wins, 6 Poles and the Championship is Tied:   Urry has scored four victories, six pole positions and he’s finished second four times this season.  He is currently tied with Alec Udell for the GT Porsche Cup Championship with 1054 points and nine races remain.

A Coach and A Mentor:  Championships are won from work and development on and off the racetrack. Sloan has one of the most successful Sports Car drivers of the current era, Scotsman Ryan Dalziel guiding him through his championship run this season.  Winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona and LeMans, Dalziel commented on his role with Sloan; “There are so many different pieces to being a professional driver in today’s industry. I was very fortunate to have some great mentors helping me, namely David Empringham. Dave taught me that its more than just being a fast driver. You have to be consistent, a team player, a good communicator and most of all a role model to the next generation. I’ve done my best to pass this knowledge on and it’s what I’m trying to help Sloan with. Sloan is already a very fast race car driver, so there isn’t much to help him with there. But the off track and the preparation is what we work on together. It’s about talking to your driver in terms they can relate to, to get the maximum out of them. I’ve seen huge growth in Sloan in the short time we have worked together this year, but we are only just scratching the surface of his natural talents and I think the second half of 2016 we are going to start seeing his full potential.”

Road America Rewind:  Sloan started on the front row last year when he qualified second in both races at Road America.  He scored his fifth second place finish of the year in race one. In race two, Sloan was setting himself up for his first victory, chasing Collin Thompson for the pass on the final lap, but a spin just before the checkers spoiled the result.

Sloan Urry on the Weekend Ahead: “Road America is one of the first big, historical tracks that I raced on.  I’ll never forget turning up there in 2012 with my Crew Chief Dennis Aase, our eyes were big, and it was a great experience.  It’s definitely is a very special place for me and so many others, lots of nostalgia there for sure.  The fans know their racing in Wisconsin and it will be a pleasure to give them a great show this weekend with our double-header.  It’s such an awesome track, it’s hard to decide what my favorite portion of the track would be…definitely The Kink or Billy Mitchell.  Probably Billy Mitchell, it suits my driving style with the changing elevations and the balance changes – it’s not very predictable.  We made a lot of progress at Lime Rock and I think most of that will apply at Road America.  I hope so, we are getting to a crucial part of the season where I need to tally a few more race wins and re-build my championship lead.

Sloan on the Half Way Point of the 2016 Championship: “It’s been an interesting season, we’ve had some great high points scoring my first victory and then four more wins was terrific for the points and my sponsors SecurityNational Mortgage and Avasis.  Unfortunately, we lost our way a bit there with the injury to my wrist and some troubles we had with the car.  Part of winning a championship is maximizing the points on the tough days and we’ve done a pretty good job of that.  I think our greatest potential is ahead of us, and I am looking forward to very strong performances the rest of the year.  Alec (Udell) certainly is a great competitor, we have a really tight battle going between us with the championship lead drafting back and forth and now we head into the half way point tied for the lead!  I’ve got to hand it to my team, they’ve been awesome all season.”
