Costa Mesa, Calif. (22 April 2015) – Following a frustrating run through the streets of Long Beach just three days ago, Sloan Urry and TruSpeed Autosport are ready to turn the page and focus forward to Barber Motorsports Park this weekend for Rounds 6 & 7 of the Pirelli World Challenge. The event is held as part of the big Indy Grand Prix of Alabama event with thousands of fans expected to fill the spectator mounds.
The picturesque 2.38-mile Alabama road course is a welcome venue after two tough street circuits presented challenging race conditions on the tight confines of the city streets. Barber Motorsports Park is a stunning facility with 17 corners and 80 feet of elevation.
Urry finished fifth in the No. 02 Engel & Volkers / SecurityNational Porsche at Long Beach last Sunday after having run strongly – in both the lead and in second place – through the entire race up until the final lap. Urry was one of just a hand full of drivers not penalized for driving conduct in the Long Beach round. He and the TruSpeed team look to rebound at Barber in the double-header event.
“I ran at Barber for the Porsche Young Driver’s Academy and I really enjoy the track layout,” said Urry. “I am excited to race there for my first time. It’s going to be good to get back on a road course after the frustration of the past two events at street courses. It’s a bit tiring having the back to back weekends but it’s good to be able to get right back in the driver’s seat and move on from this past weekend’s unfortunate race at Long Beach.”
TruSpeed Autosport will welcome Engel & Volkers and SecurityNational guests to the scenic Barber Motorsports Park as they take in the sights and sounds of the big race weekend in Alabama.
Urry will have plenty of time to get up to speed at Barber Motorsports Park with two test sessions on Thursday. Official practice will get underway on Fridaywith qualifying and Race 1 set for Saturday. The second race will be on Sunday. Live coverage of the race events can be viewed with live streaming at www.world-challengetv.com.
CBS Sports Network will broadcast the Barber Motorsports Park event on Sunday, May 3 at 2:00 PM ET.
