Championship Leader: With six of 19 races complete, Sloan’s earned four pole positions and won half of the races. He leads the 2016 Porsche GT Cup Championship by six points.

Last Year at CTMP: A former race winner at Mosport, Sloan started second in both races while competing in the Pirelli World Challenge Porsche GT Cup in 2015, and scored a second place podium finish in the first race and a fourth place finish in the second.

PMG Awareness: Sloan Urry and TruSpeed have partnered with the PMG Awareness Organization, an international non-profit organization of families, caregivers, and medical professionals who care about those with Polymicrogyria. Their mission is to promote awareness, diagnosis, and the treatment of Polymicrogyria through education, research, advocacy, and support for individuals with Polymicrogyria, their families, and other concerned parties.  Polymicrogyria is a condition characterized by abnormal development of the brain before birth. The surface of the brain normally has many ridges or folds, called gyri. In people with polymicrogyria, the brain develops too many folds, and the folds are unusually small. The name of this condition literally means too many (poly-) small (micro-) folds (-gyria) in the surface of the brain.

An Engineering Perspective:   Sloan’s passion for racing extends beyond the driver’s seat.  He has a technical passion and understanding of the aerodynamics and vehicle mechanics as he studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Utah.  Sloan put his studies on hiatus to devote himself to an opportunity to pursue his racing career full-time and to professionally develop a software idea (Avasis), which has just successfully launched in the commercial market.

Sloan Urry on the Weekend Ahead: “I love fast, high commitment tracks and The Canadian Tire Motorsports Park fits the bill perfectly.  It is a challenging place but it is so much fun.  I’ve enjoyed two wins there in IMSA Cup and a podium last year in the GT Porsche Cup category, I guess you could say Canada has been good to me.  I am still recovering from my wrist injury, but the last month was a welcomed break, and gave me some extra time to heal.  I think it is going to feel much better than it did last month at Barber.  The Championship is tight, I am looking forward to a great battle with Alec (Udell) this weekend and I am ready to grow my Championship lead again with victories for my sponsors, SecurityNational Mortgage and Avasis.
